Educate ME!

This year, the 2014 Maine Youth Summit took place on March 8th, 2014 from 9 am to 4:30 pm* at the Portland Public Library.  This event provided a place to discuss the educational system in Maine with current students, teachers, school administrators, and policy makers.  The focus was on: economics of education, standards-based learning, learning disabilities, and English Language Learner programs.  The program brought teenagers--former Seeds participants and other youth leaders--from around the state together to share thoughts on and future ideas for the educational system in Maine.  It was an opportunity to learn from leaders and experts and to share opinions and solutions.  Guest speakers included: Edie Smith (on behalf of Angus King), gubernatorial candidate Eliot Cutler, and other school administrators and policy makers.
